"It would be hard to suspend the belief that Jack Sparrow isn't going to be back," says Orlando Bloom, who plays Will, Sparrow's romantic rival for Keira Knightley.
Director Gore Verbinski says the suspense will come from how Sparrow's friends rescue him from the afterlife. "As always, he has his own path in the madness," Verbinski says. "It's interesting what solitary confinement does to the brain. If his brain was sunbaked before, it's freeze-dried now." The story involves Will Turner (Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) teaming with the previously deceased bad-guy Capt. Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), who made a surprise appearance at the end of Dead Man's Chest.
They journey to 18th-century Shanghai to secure maps from Chinese pirate lord Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat) that will lead them to the ends of the earth, where ships plunge off the edge of the sea into the afterlife. Bloom says his too-good-to-be-true Will gets to have devious motives.
"The question is why do we need to have Jack Sparrow back? And that's revealed in this movie," Bloom says. "But I thought it would be cool for Will to be slightly darker. He's so good, but he wants to be bad." Verbinski says everyone gets to be bad this time. "There are betrayals on top of betrayals," he says. "There's a meeting of the pirate lords, and it's like a bad gathering of relatives at Thanksgiving, where everybody is pretending to get along. You can feel the psychosis. It's a fishbowl filled with sharks."
Naomie Harris, who plays the witch Tia Dalma, says she finally gets to leave her swamp because she has her own secrets to reveal. "In her own environment she's playful; in other environments, she's serious," Harris says. "She has a lot of powers, and she's out for herself."_________________________________________[glow=red,2,300] 'Pirates' Filming Begins[/glow] Thursday, September 07, 2006
With her renovation complete, Black Pearl and the cast of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' have begun filming the series' third installment in Southern California waters. Black Pearl has been spotted cruising along the cliffs of the Palos Verdes coastline, providing a perfect backdrop as cast and crew film the third installment in the popular "Pirates of the Caribbean" series.
Now that the ship's renovation is complete, the unmistakable vessel was moved from her berth at the foot of Miner Street in San Pedro, where she has been docked for the past month. The project began with filming scenes aboard Captain Jack Sparrow's infamous rig in Long Beach August 21, 2006.
She then headed south to continue filming off the coast of Rocky Point, and after shooting ended on August 24, the foreboding vessel eased through an ominous fog and into Redondo Beach's King Harbor, to the delight of local residents.
The imitation 18th century tall ship circled twice before coming inside the breakwall, where she stayed for the weekend. While moored in King Harbor, members of the film crew worked on the ship, repairing battle damage, redoing the rigging and tending to general maintenance.
Hundreds of people gathered along the breakwall to admire the fearsome and foreboding ocean cruiser, while local boaters maneuvered up to the ship to examine her at close range.
One young local buccaneer, Ryan Yearley, headed out Saturday morning with his father, Steve, to defend their home waters. A peaceful encounter with the deckhands proved valuable to the 4-year-old Redondo Beach resident, as he came away with an actual movie prop cannonball from the crew of the daunting big-screen legend.
Set up in the parking lot toward the south end of Redondo Pier was the temporary home base for production. Costume designers, lighting crews, actors and extras bustled in and out of the temporary tent fortress while working on the film. All the while, support boats ran back and forth between the dock and Black Pearl, delivering the necessary people and props.
The cast and crew mingled with the public throughout the weekend, and even Capt. Sparrow himself, Johnny Depp, was on hand to sign autographs and greet fans gathered at the location site, spending three nights in a row doing meeting for more than an hour at a time.________________________________________________[glow=red,2,300] Pirates of the Caribbean III : "At World's End[/glow] Pirates 3 Title Confirmed Screenwriter spills the beans. September 1, 2006 - Screenwriter Terry Rossio has straight-up confirmed the full title for the third Pirates of the Caribbean film over on his website, Worldplayer.com. Despite initial denials of the studio to the contrary, Rossio claims that the film will be subtitled At World's End. In a post on the message boards, Rossio states that it was down to "Worlds End" or "At Worlds End" and that the latter ultimately won out -- he also notes some debate about the use of the apostrophe.
He says, "When you seen the alternatives side by side in text, Worlds End is cleaner-looking on a poster and in print. And for some, it invoked the theme of 'end of an era' better; whereas the At Worlds End pushed the double-meaning more towards a specific location."
The third film in the swashbuckling trilogy will see all of the principle cast return from the first two films and will add Chow Yun-Fat to the mix as pirate Sao Feng.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End sets sail on the big screen on Memorial Day 2007. Keep watching IGN for the latest!

[glow=red,2,300] Pirates of the Caribbean III : "At World's End[/glow] Keith Richards Wanted All The Stones To Be Pirates ... One of the influences for Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow...ahem...CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow was rocker Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones. Richards will now be seen in the third film, playing Captain Jack Sparrow's father. And apparently, Richards wanted all his bandmates to join him, playing pirates:
A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Keith wanted Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts to be in it too. He was hoping they could be this vile pirate crew but the script doesn't allow for it.
"He was disappointed but he still wasn't going to pass up the chance to play pirates with Johnny.""Pirates of the Caribbean 3" hits theaters in the US. on May 25, 2007.

[glow=red,2,300] UPDATED January 2007: The finale in Pirates of the Caribbean III : "At World's End[/glow] Shooting for Pirates of the Caribbean III : "At World's End has wrapped up !!!
According to Bill Nighy in an interview with Latino Review, shooting for At World's End has wrapped up.
LR: Now you are in the third installment of Pirates?
Nighy: I am. I am at liberty to tell you that. I am the squid, the squid is back. He's in very bad shape, this time he's angry. So I am there in a big way and nutty, mad stuff happens to Johnny and Orlando and Kiera and myself and it's wild. If you thought the last one was nuts, the new one is even freakier.
LR: Did you have to go back to film recently?
Nighy: Yeah. We actually shot quite a lot, they've only just wrapped. The official wrap party was last Friday.
LR: Now that you've seen the effects, did you have any input or requests for your tentacles this time around?
Nighy: No, I left it in the hands of the guys who did it in the first place. They were so brilliant. I had no idea that it was even technologically available. I didn't know that it was possible to inform a creature with a performance to that degree. They always told me they were going to do it, they're very nice guys, they did it beautifully. I was very moved when I first saw it. All the silly stuff we did on set survived and was translated technologically on the screen.
LR: So might we be seeing a softer side of your character this time around?
Nighy: (Pauses, smiling) It's possible. Yeah.
In the wee hours yesterday morning, the final 'check the gate' was called, on Pirates of the Caribbean II & III (Dead Man's Chest/At World's End).
6 countries.141 2nd unit days. 281 1st unit days. 256 3/8 pages. 4000+ crew members. 2,868,690 feet of film. 3,409 hours, 24 minutes of filming. February 24, 2005-December 12, 2006 Now the race to complete the editing, reshoots, and visual effects is on. We'll go for some time off.
Pirates of the Caribbean 3 Ends with a Bang
POTC writer Terry Rossio told Scifi Wire that Pirates 3 will have an epic grand finale.
"The most difficult thing about writing a trilogy is coming up with the climactic ending of the trilogy," Rossio told SciFiWire. "So for that third film, you have not only the usual challenges of coming up with an ending, but somehow you have to have the ending of all endings."Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End hits theaters on May 25th 2007.new photos (January 2007)
